Man arrested after fatal crash follows previous hit-and-run

January 26, 2019

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a 55-year-old man riding a bicycle was killed when struck by a hit-and-run van that had just left the scene of another crash.

Police said 58-year-old Jorge Morales-Cardenas of Las Vegas is accused of then driving the van into a casino’s parking lot to try to hide it after the crash that killed the bicyclist Friday.

According to police, the incident began when the van collided with another vehicle before the crash involving bicyclist, whose identity wasn’t released.

Police said Morales-Cardenas was arrested on suspicion of murder and other crimes. Morales-Cardenas remained jailed Saturday and it’s not clear whether he has a lawyer who could comment on the allegations.
