Chamber to host Derby Day Party on May 4
IRONTON — The Lawrence County Area Chamber of Commerce is planning to host a Kentucky Derby Day fundraiser next month at the new Armory Smokehouse from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 4.
The Armory Smokehouse, located at 920 Vernon St., is preparing to open to the public, possibly by next month after the derby party.
Tickets for the Derby Day party are $100 per person or $150 per couple.
Proceeds from the party will go toward an educational conference for small businesses in the county, said Shirley Dyer, chamber president.
Dress for the Derby Day party is business casual with your favorite Debytheme hat or tie, Dyer said.
There will be a silent auction, a horse race raffle, Derby-style food and drinks, prizes for the best hat and tie, a cash bar and live music.
Meanwhile, a tea party is planned from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the chamber offices in South Point where folks can learn to design a Derby Day hat. The cost for the tea party is $5 and reservations can be made by calling the chamber office at 740-377-4550.
Tickets for the Derby Day party can be purchased by calling the chamber, at the Proctorville Animal Clinic on State Street in Proctorville or the Citizens Deposit Bank at 221 Railroad St. in Ironton.
Table sponsorships also are available for the party, Dyer said.
The Armory Smokehouse, meanwhile, is seeking military memorabilia from Tri-State Area residents or who currently are serving in the military.
The restaurant is located in the former Ohio National Guard Armory building that was constructed in 1937. Renovations are under way prior to the restaurant opening later this spring.
