Senior Peer Counselor Training

Men and women, 55 and older who drive and enjoy meeting people are welcome to join the Senior Peer Counselor Program of Community Counseling Services and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Luzerne and Wyoming Counties. After completing the screening and training in issues related to aging, volunteers are introduced to clients who are homebound, lonely and grateful for volunteer weekly home visits. Eight volunteers recently completed Senior Peer Counselor training during the past year. There are currently 18 volunteers. Seniors interested in volunteering, or seniors 60 years and older who would like home visits, may call Rhoda Tillman at 570-552-6107 for information. A new training series will begin in February. There is no charge to participate.
