OTTAWA (AP) _ Canada's unemployment rate fell to a nine-year low of 7.6 percent in June from 8.1 percent the previous month, the government said today.

Statistics Canada said the number of jobs was little changed in June but the number of people registered as working or actively seeking work shrank by 81,000.

Employment growth in Canada has been on a plateau for the past five months, largely because of stagnation in Ontario and Quebec.
