Henderson police shoot, kill armed robbery suspect

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Henderson police shot and killed an armed robbery suspect who tried to flee a traffic stop on the Boulder Highway southeast of Las Vegas.

Police say the officers identified the suspect’s vehicle and began pursuit after responding to a report of a violent armed robbery shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday in the area of Teton Ranch Avenue and Carnegie Street.

The suspect failed to yield then took off on foot near Gibson Road and Trail Canyon Road. Police say he was shot after he produced a firearm during the chase.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
