Weis, Shipt To Offer Same-day Delivery

August 24, 2018

Online marketplace Shipt will offer same-day delivery service from Weis Markets in Northeastern Pennsylvania beginning Sept. 6.

Under the membership-based service, groceries and household essentials from Weis can be delivered in as little as one hour.

The marketplace gives members the ability to browse and shop the in-store assortment of products online. Then, Shipt’s team of shoppers takes care of selecting, bagging and delivering the items to the member’s doorstep.

The service is available to nearly 50 million households in more than 150 markets across the country.

Shipt also will offer the delivery service in Allentown, Harrisburg, Lancaster and Philadelphia areas as well as in Baltimore, Maryland and Lewes, Millsboro, Millville, and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Shipt originally launched in Baltimore in March 2018 and Philadelphia in April 2018.

This launch gives nearly 2.6 million households across three states access to products delivered by Shipt from Weis Markets.

To celebrate the announcement, new area Shipt members who sign up before Sept. 6 will receive an annual membership for $49. It is regularly $99.

Throughout 2018, Shipt will continue to expand by adding both Target stores and additional retailer partners to its online marketplace, offering members more options to shop.

“Shipt’s growing marketplace gives our members the flexibility to shop for their favorite products from beloved retailers in one convenient location,” said Bill Smith, founder and chief executive officer of Shipt. “Through our app, our members have access to everything they need, when they need it, right at their fingertips.”

Ron Bonacci, vice president of advertising and marketing, Weis Markets, said “we’re pleased that our partnership with Shipt will provide customers the additional convenience of having groceries delivered directly to their homes.”

“At Weis Markets, we help our customers eat better and spend less with a wide selection of products and savings on thousands of everyday items and flexible reward choices,” Bonacci said.

Shipt was founded in 2014 in Birmingham, Alabama and maintains an office here and another one in San Francisco. For more information, visit Shipt.com.
