$10 million Atascocita Park on track to open in 2020
Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia’s office is making progress on the construction of Atascocita Park, which is scheduled to open early 2020.
County officials recently finished renderings detailing what the 20-acre development on West Lake Houston Parkway will look like once it is open to the public. The park will be located south of Will Clayton Parkway and will abut West Lake Houston Parkway to the east, across the street from Atascocita High School.
The $10 million park will have:
1-acre dog park with an area for large breeds, and a separate area for smaller breeds
A large playground and open play areas
2.5-acre pond with a boardwalk
Large picnic pavilion
Large parking lot
Atascocita Park will also have an 8-acre hike-and-bike trail, that is scheduled to open the second quarter of 2019. The trail will start on West Lake Houston Parkway, along the flood control channel and provide access to Kings Parkway. This project is estimated at $700,000, according to Precinct 2’s Director of Infrastructure Jeremy Phillips.
