JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi man has died after he got into an argument over a dog attack and his neighbor shot him.

Jackson Police Sgt. Roderick Holmes says 38-year-old William Parker died Monday in a hospital after the Saturday night shooting.

Holmes says Parker’s dog was injured after it attacked a neighbor. The unnamed neighbor tells police that Parker then assaulted him, leading to the shooting.

The neighbor was questioned by police after the shooting. However, no arrests have been made. Holmes says there’s no evidence now that the neighbor committed a crime. Holmes says police continue to investigate.
