Campaign to focus on affordable, locally grown produce
BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Public Health Commission is beginning a campaign aimed at raising awareness of the availability of affordable, locally grown produce.
“Farm Fresh Boston” campaign ads will be featured on bus shelters, BigBelly trashcans and bus interiors and exteriors.
Signs will also direct pedestrians to nearby markets to emphasize the campaign’s message that farm-fresh fruits and vegetables are available right around the corner from wherever you are in Boston. The commission says locally grown produce is available at more than 25 farmers markets throughout the city.
The campaign highlights the city’s Boston Bounty Bucks program, which enhances the buying power of low-income Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program beneficiaries at farmers markets. BBB provides a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $10 on healthy foods purchased at participating markets throughout the city.
