Massachusetts man killed in Rhode Island motorcycle crash
WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — Police have identified a Massachusetts man who was killed and another who was injured when the motorcycle they were riding went off a road in Rhode Island and struck a tree and a stone wall.
Authorities say 26-year-old Kevin Lorenz of Webster, Massachusetts, was pronounced dead at a hospital after the accident early Friday morning in Warwick. The 21-year-old passenger, Aaron Stewart of Millville, Massachusetts, who was wearing a helmet, suffered only minor injuries.
Police did not say whether Lorenz was wearing a helmet.
Police say the motorcycle went out of control near the entrance to Goddard State Park on Ives Road just after 1 a.m. It crossed the double yellow line before striking the tree.
Police say alcohol and speed may have played a role in the crash.
