Board Distributes Liquor License Fees To 40 Municipalities

HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board sent about $104,000 to 40 municipalities in Luzerne County in its latest distribution of liquor license fees.

Licensees pay liquor license fees ranging from $125 to $700, depending on the type of license and the population of the municipality in which the license is located, as part of the annual license renewal or validation process.

Twice a year, the agency returns a portion of liquor license fees paid by licensees to the municipalities that are home to those liquor licenses.

Some of the municipalities that received the largest distributions in the county included:

• Wilkes-Barre, $20,950

• Hazleton, $12,400

• Wilkes-Barre Twp., $6,350

• Plains Twp., $4,950

• Kingston, $4,800

• Hanover Twp., $3,800

• Nanticoke, $3,000

Other municipalities received amounts ranging from $150 to $2,800.
