Athletes of the Week: Pleasant Grove’s Sadie Nixon and Springville’s Paul Terry

January 8, 2019

Sadie Nixon

Senior guard

Pleasant Grove

In the final tune-up before starting the Region 4 gauntlet, the Vikings squared off against a dangerous Riverton team.

Sadie Nixon led the charge for Pleasant Grove, stuffing the stat sheet as the Vikings earned the hard-fought 52-44 win. She tallied team-highs in points (21), rebounds (6), assists (6) and steals (3) to spark her team to victory.

In 13 games this year, Nixon has been a steady performer as she is averaging 15.2 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game and 4.3 assists per game. Pleasant Grove relies on her to be a huge all-around presence and keep the team on track.

Paul Terry

Junior guard

Springville

The Red Devils surged to a pair of nice wins last week, thanks in large part to an offensive explosion by Paul Terry.

After only scoring more than 13 points once in the previous seven game, Terry went off at Bountiful on Jan. 2, tallying 30 points in the big 80-77 Springville victory. Terry then tacked on 14 more points two nights later at home as the Red Devils rolled past Summit Academy, 60-42.

He is currently averaging 12.9 points per game but Terry will need to continue to be a dangerous threat for Springville if the Red Devils want to achieve their goals in Region 8.
