13-year-old injured in bike vs. car crash
A 13-year-old Byron boy was taken to the hospital Monday night after he hit a car while riding his bike.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office responded at 7:08 p.m. to the area of First Avenue and Seventh Street Northeast in Byron for a report of a bicycle that hit a car.
Capt. Scott Behrns said Zander Sanchez was riding north on First Avenue approaching a stop sign when he attempted to brake, but because of the wet road slid into the intersection.
Zander hit the right side of a Subaru driven by Dustin Chomjak, 27, of Byron. Chomjak is not being charged in relation to the crash, Behrns said.
Zander was taken to the hospital by Gold Cross ambulance for a right ankle injury, Behrns said.
