1 killed, 1 severely burned in South Carolina house fire
SUMTER, S.C. (AP) — One person has been killed and another severely injured after a fire at a South Carolina home.
Fire officials tell local media outlets they got a call about a fire at a house in Sumter just after 1 a.m. Thursday.
The Sumter County coroner says 68-year-old Eva Harvin died in the fire. Her 71-year-old husband was flown to Augusta Burn Center for treatment of burns to at least two-thirds of his body.
Authorities are still trying to figure out how the fire started but think it may have begun in the attic around a heating and air unit.
