Happ to make Yankees debut

UNDATED (AP) — J.A. Happ makes his Yankees debut Sunday, three days after New York got him from Toronto in a trade for Brandon Drury and minor league outfielder Billy McKinney. The 35-year-old lefty starts out at home against Kansas City.

Happ has enjoyed success over Boston in his career. With the Yankees chasing the AL East-leading Red Sox, Happ is set to pitch again next weekend at Fenway Park.

Elsewhere on the Sunday schedule:

— Nathan Eovaldi (ee-VAHL’-dee) is set to make his Red Sox debut in the series finale against Minnesota, after being acquired in a trade from Tampa Bay on Wednesday. Jose Berrios starts for the Twins. Boston has a 5 1/2-game lead over the Yankees atop the AL East and own the majors’ best record at 73-33.

— The Atlanta Braves have lost four straight and 13 of 18, mostly because their bats have gone quiet. They’ll try to keep from falling farther behind Philadelphia in the NL East race when lefty Sean Newcomb starts at home against Dodgers righty Ross Stripling.

Lions WR Marvin Jones returns to practice after injury

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones has returned to practice a day after injuring his left leg.

Jones was in pads with his teammates and running routes early in Sunday’s practice.

He got tangled up with a teammate on Saturday and landed awkwardly. The training staff evaluated his left leg and he was held out of the rest of practice.

Lions coach Matt Patricia says Jones is fine, adding the team will be cautious with him.

Jones had a career-high 1,101 yards receiving last season. He also had 61 receptions and caught nine touchdown passes.

It was Hamilton’s second straight win, fifth of the season and 67th overall. Vettel was second. Hamilton now leads Vettel by 24 points after 12 of 21 races.

Mercedes missed out on a 1-2 as Valtteri Bottas was overtaken by Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen (KEE’-mee RAY’-koh-nehn) with five laps to go.

Hamilton and Vettel will continue their battle for a fifth F1 title when the championship resumes at the Belgian GP on Aug. 26.

Documents: Trump golf course damaged protected sand dunes

LONDON (AP) — Documents say President Donald Trump’s family business has “destroyed the vast majority” of an environmentally sensitive area of sand dunes near its golf course north of Aberdeen in Scotland.

Scottish Natural Heritage, which is responsible for the management and monitoring of sites of special scientific interest, found that construction of the golf course “led to direct loss of” as much as 168 acres of mobile sand dunes protected under Scottish law. The destruction occurred despite a personal commitment by Trump to minimize the damage when Scottish authorities granted permission for the project.

The documents were obtained under a freedom of information request by Bob Ward, the policy director of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics.
