Former La. Basketball Player Slain
ATLANTA (AP) _ Tony Moore, a basketball player at Southwestern Louisiana in the early 1990s, was shot to death last weekend in an apparent carjacking, police said Wednesday.
The 25-year-old player from Atlanta was found early Saturday behind a building, said homicide Lt. Tony Biello. He said Moore was shot several times and his car was stolen.
``We consider it a carjacking,″ Biello said. Moore’s late-model Chevrolet Impala was found abandoned north of Atlanta.
Moore, a 6-foot-2 guard, was the sixth man for the Ragin’ Cajuns from 1991-94. He is the first player in the school’s history to score 1,000 points without being a full-time starter.
