TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ Sykes Enterprises Inc. (SYKE) on Monday reported second-quarter net income of $7.2 million.

The Tampa, Florida-based company said it had net income of 17 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 42 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 33 cents per share.

The outsourcing company posted revenue of $396.8 million in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $402.9 million.

For the current quarter ending in October, Sykes expects its per-share earnings to range from 55 cents to 58 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $402 million to $407 million for the fiscal third quarter.

Sykes expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.04 to $2.11 per share, with revenue ranging from $1.63 billion to $1.64 billion.

Sykes shares have fallen slightly more than 6 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $29.48, a drop of 12 percent in the last 12 months.
