Goshen Healthcare Foundation brings comedy to Torrington
TORRINGTON, Wyo. — The 18th annual Goshen Community Healthcare Foundation Comedy Night will bring some variety to Goshen County on Aug. 24 at the Rendezvous Center.
Molly Childs, the Community Healthcare Foundation liaison at Banner Health, said the Comedy Night supports the county’s health care facilities.
“The purpose is to raise funds, and then we give all those funds back to our community of Goshen County to buy critical equipment needs for health care facilities,” she said.
The event usually raises around $10,000 each year.
This year’s show is slightly different, as it will feature a pair of dueling pianos rather than a pure comedy show.
“In the past, we’ve usually brought in a comedian,” she said. “This year, we’re having dueling pianos performed by Fun Pianos, which is also a comedic show.”
The foundation began holding the event in 2000, after spending years trying to generate funds.
“We just needed to come up with an idea of what to do for a major fundraiser,” said board member Darin Yates. “Eighteen years ago, we started doing a comedian through Comedy Works out of Denver and just built on that.”
The foundation also wanted to provide some variety to the fundraisers held in the county.
“There’s a lot of fundraisers that occur in Goshen County and Torrington,” he said. “The comedy night and the beer tasting was something that wasn’t being and we thought it’d be a good option for the residents.”
In addition to the show, the event will also feature beer tasting, silent and live auctions, and games.
Tickets for Comedy Night are $35 and are available by calling 307-534-7241 or by visiting Points West Community Bank.
