Police arrest man after standoff at apartment
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Police in New Hampshire say a 39-year-old man who forced police into a standoff has been arrested.
Manchester police say they were called to the scene early Wednesday morning amid reports of a domestic incident. WMUR-TV reports police say a woman left the apartment while the suspect barricaded himself inside.
Police say they determined the woman was assaulted. When authorities tried to make contact with the man, he made suicidal statements and a SWAT unit was called in by police.
Police say the suspect refused to answer officers or leave the apartment, prompting officers to breach the apartment and take the man into custody.
The Manchester man faces charges of domestic simple assault and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
