Man struck, killed while crossing Saugus highway
SAUGUS, Mass. (AP) — Investigators say they have located a vehicle that might have been involved in a fatal pedestrian crash on Route 1 in Saugus.
A 33-year-old man from New York was struck late Sunday night while walking in the roadway. The driver of the car left the scene.
In a statement Monday afternoon, police said they had applied for search warrants to process the vehicle and were working to develop information on who was in the car at the time of the incident. The statement did not describe the vehicle or say where it was found.
The victim was believed to have just left a restaurant on Route 1 when he was struck in the southbound lanes. His name is being withheld until relatives are notified.
