SC woman killed walking across railroad tracks

June 13, 2019

ELGIN, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina woman was killed after being hit by a train as she tried to walk across railroad tracks in Kershaw County.

Coroner David West says the pedestrian was identified as 26-year-old Olivia Marie Matheson-Brazell, of Elgin.

West says she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The State reports West says it appears the victim did not hear the CSX train’s horn because she was wearing headphones when the collision occurred Wednesday.

A 911 caller reported the collision about 1 p.m.
