Woman sentenced to 12 years for deadly Portland stabbing
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon woman has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in the stabbing death of the father of her child.
KATU-TV reports 34-year-old Antoinette Garrett was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to a charge of manslaughter in the death of 36-year-old Jerry Robinson in November 2016.
Prosecutors dropped charges of murder and unlawful use of a weapon in exchange for her guilty plea.
According to court documents, Garrett had called police to Robinson’s Portland apartment. Police found Robinson unconscious and he later died at the scene.
Authorities say Garrett and Robinson had been in a relationship for about eight years and had a child together, but she was not living with him at the time of the stabbing.
