Mets’ Ventura Undergoes Surgery
NEW YORK (AP) _ New York Mets third baseman Robin Ventura underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Monday and is expected to be ready for the start of spring training.
Ventura hurt the shoulder on a play at second base during the playoffs against Arizona. The injury was diagnosed as a bruised rotator cuff and the operation cleaned out scar tissue that had developed.
Ventura will begin rehabilitation without throwing for six weeks, then progress to a throwing program. He is expected to be ready by March 1.
