Skagit Regional Health is seeking applicants for a vacant position on its board of commissioners.

The vacancy on the seven-member board was created when Al Dennis announced his resignation that will be effective Monday, according to a Skagit Regional Health news release.

Dennis, a registered nurse, will be moving outside the hospital district, according to the release.

“His insights and experience will be missed on the board,” board president Bruce Lisser said.

The board has 90 days from Monday to appoint a replacement.

Dennis’ six-year term was set to end in December 2021.

The person who is appointed to replace Dennis will serve until the next election in November 2019. The person who wins that election will serve the remainder of Dennis’ term.

Applications for the vacant position are due by noon Jan. 4.

All applicants must be residents and registered voters of Public Hospital District No. 1, which includes most of Mount Vernon and stretches west of the city, east to Big Lake and south to include Conway and Lake Cavanaugh.

Applicants are asked to submit a letter of interest, a résumé and a conflict of interest form.

The position requires about three or four meetings per month, Lisser said.

Applications are available in the administration offices at Skagit Valley Hospital, 1415 E. Kincaid. An application can also be downloaded at skagitregionalhealth.org.
