Police investigating unattended death at Old Greenwich hotel

May 28, 2019

GREENWICH — Police were called to the Hyatt Regency Hotel on East Putnam Avenue in Old Greenwich to investigate an unattended death last Thursday.

The call came in at 8:19 a.m.

“There was a subject in his room, deceased,” said police Lt. John Slusarz. The department investigates all deaths in which medical personnel, or other witnesses, are not present at the time a person dies.

Police did not disclose any information about the man or the circumstances of his death, other than to say there were no signs of foul play.

The entry on the police blotter for the incident labeled it “sudden death/overdose,” but Slusarz said it was premature to say what caused the fatality. The case is under investigation, in conjunction with the state medical examiner’s office.
