BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Bismarck police veteran has been hired as the department's new chief.

The Bismarck Tribune reports the City Commission voted unanimously Friday to hire Deputy Chief Dave Draovitch.

The 53-year-old Draovitch was one of three finalists to fill the position left by Chief Dan Donlin, who is retiring,

Draovitch is a Minot native. He has been with the Bismarck Police Department since 1989 and has been a deputy chief since 2013.
