Park District looking for new recreation director
DIXON – The Park District is looking to fill two posts: recreation director and nature center director.
The full time recreation director’s duties include communicating activities and programs to the public, overseeing staff and providing training, and staying within budget for programs.
A bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation or the equivalent experience in the field is required; the salary range is $30,000 to $40,000.
Longtime Recreation Director Terry Shroyer accepted an early retirement package last month.
The district also is looking for someone to run the Ruth Edwards Nature Center in Lowell Park, to coordinate nature programs and educational activities. That work previously was done by former natural resources director Greg Hunter and naturalist Carol Schnaiter.
It’s a part-time position that pays $18 an hour, and requires a bachelor’s or experience in natural resources, or environmental or wildlife biology, forestry or conservation.
Applications are available at the district office, 804 Palmyra St.
