September 22, 2018

THORNHURST TWP. — The state Game Commission is seeking information about an illegally killed black bear that was found Thursday near Hanby Lake at Thornhurst Country Club Estates. The male bear, which weighed between 150 and 175 pounds, was discovered dumped on an ATV trail about a half-mile from the nearest home around 9 a.m., the Game Commission said. The animal had a shotgun wound that punctured its rib cage directly behind its right front shoulder and likely was killed 24 to 36 hours before it was discovered. The Game Commission asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Northeast Region office at 570-675-1143. All information is kept confidential, the commission said. — STAFF REPORT
