Steam in Dream Means Purification -- so What’s the Dirty Laundry?

March 31, 2019

When we look at the scenario of the overall dream, we can decipher what the basis of the dream is. Then, we can use the details to understand how it relates to ourselves or our life situations.

Dear Dream Retriever: My dreams are detailed, and I don’t get several pieces of this particular dream, if you don’t mind.

I start off in a yard and I am cleaning it up for spring. It is a backyard but not mine. It seems familiar and I do recognize a swing set in the corner from my yard when my kids were young. This is not my house or the house I brought my kids up in, so that is one issue. I am raking up leaves and I see a ring and pick it up. It is an old wedding band and it is engraved but all I can make out in the dream is a heart. It is a large ring and I would say a man owned it. I am then in my house and I see my clothes hanging out of the washing machine as if someone started a load and walked away. I go to the washing machine, and I am now outside doing laundry in a stream. I have no idea where I am and I wake up. -- Cleaning up?

Dear Cleaning Up?: The situation that needs tending to is what the details tell you. A backyard represents your childhood memories, and the swing set would say the same. You find a wedding ring in a pile of decayed leaves and see a heart. That would indicate that you are in despair and that it concerns your marriage or relationship. At this point, you need to put two and two together to really get what is going on before we go on. Your childhood issues are what is causing you despair in your relationship. This means you have brought this from your childhood into adulthood, which usually represents insecurities. That being said, you are in process of cleaning these issues up but have not finished, due to the clothes hanging out of the washer. The stream represents the purification of these thoughts, and you are still processing them and may be a bit confused as to where you are in the process, signified by not knowing where you are at the end and not finishing the laundry.
