Pacific 73, San Jose State 56
STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) _ Charles Jones scored 19 points and Adam Jacobsen added 17 to lead Pacific to a 73-56 Big West Conference win over San Jose State on Saturday night.
Jacobsen scored 13 of his points in the second half as the Tigers used a 22-1 run to pull away from the Spartans.
The Tigers’ fourth win in their last five games raised their record to 11-7 and 6-4 in the conference. San Jose State is 1-17 and 0-10 in the Big West.
Brad Quinet led San Jose State with 12 points. Terence Wilborn finished with 11.
Leading 43-42 with 14:19 left, Jones and Jacobsen hit back-to-back 3-pointers to start the Tigers on an 11-0 run, extending Pacific’s lead to 12 points. A free throw by Wilborn ended the Spartans’ drought, but the Tigers followed that with another 11-point run to push their lead to 65-43 with 5:40 remaining.
Mark Boelter made 5-of-7 field goals and finished with 13 points for Pacific.
Pacific appeared to take control with a 9-2 run midway through the first half that extended its lead to 32-20, capped by a 3-pointer by Jones 4:17 before halftime. But San Jose State got back into the game by scoring the final 11 points of the first half to trim the margin to a point.
