California school administrator to lead Rutland’s schools

RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) — A school administrator from California has accepted an offer to lead Rutland City Public Schools as its next superintendent.

Adam Taylor, a regional superintendent for the West Contra Costa Unified School District in Richmond, California, will succeed the outgoing Mary Moran. The Rutland Herald reports Taylor accepted a verbal offer to take over Rutland’s schools, but has not yet signed a contract.

School Board President Dick Courcelle says they were impressed during Taylor’s visit to Rutland in February, adding he has exceptional experience from working in California’s educational system.

Courcelle says the transition between Moran and Taylor will take place over the summer school vacation.

Moran previously announced in October that she would retire after 15 years as superintendent.
