Breaking: DeKalb County nursing home administrator no longer on staff

DeKALB – DeKalb County officials confirmed that Bart Becker, administrator for the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center, is no longer employed at the facility.

Gary Winschel is director of fiscal services for Performance Management Associates, which oversees finances of the rehab and nursing center. He said Becker’s last day was Wednesday.

“We do have an interim in place that is taking care of the facility,” Winschel said.

Winschel said Roger Herman was named the interim administrator after Becker was no longer employed. He said Herman started working under the interm role the same day Becker was no longer employed at the county nursing home.

A special meeting for the DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center Operating Board was held 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Line items on the meeting’s agenda included closed session to discuss specific employees and an enclosed management update.

WInschel declined comment on whether Becker resigned or was terminated. He said the management company that helps oversee nursing home operations does not talk publicly about personnel matters.

DeKalb County Administrator Gary Hanson and County Board Chairman Mark Pietrowski confirmed Becker is no longer at the rehab and nursing center. Hanson and Pietrowski declined further comment on the circumstances in which Becker was no longer on staff for the county nursing home.

As of Monday, there is no posted job listing for Rehab and Nursing Center administrator on the county’s website.
