Bruce Arthur Farnsworth, Sr.

Bruce Arthur Farnsworth, Sr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday January 13, 2019. Bruce was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 2, 1938 to Walter and Ethel Farnsworth. He was the sixth child of a total of eight children.

Bruce spent his younger years between Salt Lake City, Lehi and Southern California. It was in Southern California where he met his wife Merline Farley. They were married in Yuma, AZ on November 26, 1954 at the age of 16.

After being married for a several years and having 5 children, they settled down in Santa Cruz California. He moved into the field of Excavation in the mid 60’s and became very good at it. They moved back to Utah in 1978 where Bruce started his own excavation business called “Bruce’s Excavating” in Salem. After building his reputation in the area Bruce became the Water Master in Woodland Hills.

He and his wife Merline were active in the CERT program and an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 41 years. After being sealed in the temple in 2002, he and his wife were called to serve as facilitators in the LDS 12 step program and were later called to serve on an LDS mission in Detroit MI.

He is survived by his five children, Sherrie Farnsworth, Darlene Best, Bruce Farnsworth Jr (Diana), Vickie Litherland (Mark) and Yvonne Johnson (Jeff). He has 11 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren soon to arrive in 2019.

Services will be held on Saturday January 19th. Viewing: 1:00 pm at Walker Mortuary 187 S Main St., Spanish Fork UT. Funeral Service: 2:00 pm at Salem 2nd Ward 60 S Main St., Salem UT.
