Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., down $2.53 at $4.48

The second-largest poultry company recalled 27.4 million pounds of cooked sandwich meat due to possible listeria contamination, the largest meat recall in U.S. history.

The Fairchild Corp., up 35 cents at $5.25

The European Union approved Alcoa’s purchase of Fairchild’s aerospace fasteners business, Fairchild Fasteners.


Quintiles Transnational Corp., up $1.83 at $10.14

The tester of drugs and medical devices received an offer from chairman and founder Dennis B. Gillings to buy the company’s 117.6 million outstanding shares at a 35 percent premium over Friday’s closing price.

The biotech firm said it expects third-quarter earnings to beat analysts’ expectations, citing improved performance in all of its units.
