Bradley’s Christmas parade set
BRADLEY — The village’s 33rd annual Christmas parade along West Broadway Street will begin at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7.
To allow for the parade, the street will be closed at 5 p.m. from Kennedy Drive to Schuyler Avenue.
Themed “A Broadway Christmas,” the parade will feature five school marching bands, 10 floats, lighted vehicles, Miss Merry Christmas, Master Jack Frost and the jolly old one himself, Santa Claus.
Miss Merry Christmas is Addison DuCharme, 6, the daughter of Melody DuCharme and Luke Blanchette. Master Jack Frost is Aiden Krause, 9, the son of Nikki and Josh Krause.
Addison and Aiden will be riding with Santa in his carriage during the parade and will help Santa after the parade as he visits with children in the Bradley Village Hall.
This year’s event has a new feature, the Holidays on Broadway. It will be located at the Holiday Market in the west lot at Bradley Village Hall.
The location features local crafters, vendors and a food truck. The market is sponsored by Nucor Steel Kankakee and Aqua Illinois.
The holiday market will be open from 4-9 p.m. Dec. 7 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 8.
In preparation for the evening’s event, parking along Broadway will not be allowed after 3 p.m. Dec. 7. Broadway will be closed to traffic beginning at 5. Cross traffic will be closed by 5:30.
Parade lineup will begin at 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Broadway and Forrest Avenue as well as all of South Forest and the 100 and 200 block of North Forest. As a result, these areas will have parking restrictions.
The parade begins at Blaine Avenue and concludes at Washington Avenue.
Village officials noted parking and traffic will be reopened to the public as soon as possible after the parade concludes.
