Memorial Day parade street closures

Listed below is information about Memorial Day parade road closures by town.

Ansonia

The parade will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Nolan Field Sports Complex on Wakelee Avenue.

The parade will travel south on Wakelee Avenue, east on Jackson Street, south on Maple Street, over the Maple Street Bridge and then south on Main Street ending at the Big “Y” Supermarket at the corner of Main Street and West Main Street. There will be no parking on the parade route from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the parade route will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

This will affect the following streets:

Wakelee Avenue — Franklin Street to Jackson Street

Jackson Street — Wakelee Avenue to Franklin Street

Maple Street — Franklin Street to Olson Drive

Main Street — Maple Street to West Main Street

Any cars parked along the parade route will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Darien

The parade will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday.

Traffic detours and restrictions will be in effect at some locations beginning at 8 a.m.

The parade will step off from Goodwives Shopping Center on Old Kings Highway North at 10 a.m., proceeding up Brookside Road and turning left onto Post road. The parade will proceed westbound on Post Road and end in the area of Spring Grove Cemetery.

There will be no on-street parking on Sedgwick Avenue, Mechanic Street or Old Kings Highway North near the entrance to Goodwives Shopping Center. Old Kings Highway South from Goodwives River Road to Post Road will be posted a “no parking” area.

No vehicles will be allowed to travel on Post Road from Interstate-95 entrance 13 westbound to Old Kings Highway South during the parade and motorists are advised to avoid the downtown area during the parade.

All vehicles participating in the parade shall enter Goodwives Shopping Center via Sedgwick Avenue or Mechanic Street and those dropping off parade participants shall use Sedgwick Avenue or Mechanic Street.

Derby and Shelton

The annual Shelton-Derby Memorial Day parade is on Monday.

Starting at 7 a.m. Howe Avenue will be closed to traffic between Center Street and Wharf Street, including all side streets and parking lots in between.

The following streets will be closed to all traffic starting at 8:30 a.m.:

Howe Avenue, between White and Bridge Street

Kneen Street, between Howe Avenue and Coram Avenue

Coram Avenue, between Kneen and White Street

White Street, between Coram and Howe Avenue

Bridge Street into Derby

Wilton

The parade is on Monday at 10 a.m.

All roads in the town center will remain open until 9:30 a.m. At approximately 9:30 a.m. the roads in the town center as well as Route 33 (Ridgefield Road) between Route 7 and Drum Hill Road will be closed.
