Spring Fire Department hosts fire prevention event on Saturday
As part of fire prevention week, the Spring Fire Department will host an event this Saturday, Oct. 13, to give people with disabilities a look behind the scenes of how firefighters work.
Beginning at 10 a.m., Station 71 of the Spring Fire Department will give the community a look behind the scenes and offer activities to participants.
“We’re capping off Fire Prevention Week this Saturday with a special day for special people at Station 71. We’re going to have sensory-friendly activities for people of all ages,” said Robert Logan, assistant fire chief.
The event will feature coloring and crafts related to fire safety.
Firefighters will also host demonstrations on how the equipment and gear is utilized.
“We’ll also be rolling out that a day a virtual reality program of one of our fire trucks so people who have mobility issues can see the inside of a fire engine,” Logan said.
The event will be hosted Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at the Spring Fire Department Station 71 at 646 E. Louetta Road in Spring.
