Wrong-way driver facing aggravated DUI charge in Scottsdale
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Police in Scottsdale say a woman accused of driving the wrong way on State Route 51 is facing a charge of aggravated DUI.
They say 52-year-old Sheila Wynice McReynolds of Phoenix was arrested early Monday.
Police and Arizona Department of Public Safety officials responded to reports of a driver traveling east in the westbound lanes of the Loop 101 around 1:15 a.m.
Authorities worked to warn oncoming traffic and limit freeway access.
A Phoenix police unit stopped the vehicle, where Scottsdale police officers conducted the DUI investigation.
Authorities say McReynolds traveled at least 11 miles before she was stopped and arrested.
It’s unclear if McReynolds has a lawyer yet who can speak in his behalf.
