Buell Motorcycle Announces Recall
MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Buell Motorcycle Co. is recalling parts on nearly 19,000 motorcycles to correct possible problems.
The company, a division of Harley-Davidson Inc., was not aware of any injuries caused by the problems, Buell spokesman Joe Hice said Tuesday.
Among the problems are the front motor mount system in all 1997-98 models; the negative battery cable in 1996-98 S1 Lightning and 1998 SI White Lightning models; and the rear brake line in Lightning X1 models.
Other problems are the side stand switch in 1996-98 models except the S2 and S2T Thunderbolt models; and the fuel tank retention system in 1995-99 models except the Lightning X1 models.
The company is also recalling the fuel tank vent in all 1995-99 models; the swing arm suspension component supporting the rear wheel in all 1995-98 models and the shock absorber mounting point in all 1995-98 models.
Owners are being notified by letter and told to bring their motorcycles to dealers for repairs and replacement parts.
