More local hospitals limit child visitors during flu season
WakeMed, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and UNC Hospitals will restrict child visitors during flu season.
UNC REX in Raleigh and UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill will implement new visitor restrictions on Friday, Jan. 11.
Beginning Friday, children ages 11 years old and younger will not be able to visit are prohibited from visiting inpatients at UNC REX Hospital in Raleigh.
Beginning Monday, Jan. 14, children ages 11 years old and younger are prohibited from visiting patients and patient waiting rooms at UNC’s Chapel Hill, Hillsborough and Wakebrook campuses.
The restrictions do not apply to patients in hospice care.
Effective Friday, Jan. 11, no children under the age of 12 are allowed to visit patient care areas at any WakeMed campus.
On Jan. 7, Cape Fear Valley Health implemented a visitor restriction policy at all of its hospitals that restricts children under age 12 from visiting.
The rule applies to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Highsmith-Rainey Specialty Hospital, Cape Fear Valley Rehabilitation Center, Behavioral Health Care, Hoke Hospital and Bladen County Hospital. Harnett Health’s two hospitals, Betsy Johnson Hospital and Central Harnett Hospital, are not affected by the policy.
