Omaha PD: Suspect, officer injured in course of police chase
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Omaha police are investigating after a police chase led to shots fired and a crash that injured the suspect and an officer.
Police say the incident began Thursday afternoon, when officers with the Omaha Police Department’s gang unit stopped stop a car on Highway 75 during an investigation. Police say during the stop, a struggle ensued with the driver and shots were fired. Police did not say whether the suspect or an officer fired the shots.
Police say the suspect fled in the car and soon crashed. He was taken to an Omaha hospital and was being treated for his injuries.
Police say an officer involved in the traffic stop was also taken to a hospital for an injury not related to the shooting.
