Florence police sergeant returns after therapy
FLORENCE, S.C. – Florence police Sgt. Scott Williamson returned home Thursday.
Williamson had been undergoing therapy at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. Williamson was one of seven officers shot in an Oct. 3 ambush in a west Florence neighborhood. Frederick T. Hopkins Jr. is charged with the shootings.
Florence police Lt. Mike Brandt said Williamson had completed all of his therapy and was doing well. Brandt said he had not yet had the chance to speak with Williamson.
Brandt also said Cpl. Brian Hart has returned to duty and officer Travis Scott will return to duty soon. They also were wounded in the ambush.
Maj. Mike Nunn with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office said deputy Arie Davis and investigator Sarah Miller are doing well. They also were shot.
The other two police officers shot, Florence police Sgt. Terrence Carraway and Florence County Sheriff’s investigator Farah Turner, died as a result of their injuries.
