HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) _ Halfback Kenny Sims broke a scoreless tie with a 22-yard scoring run in the third quarter and James Madison went on to a 21-0 victory over Northeastern’s Huskies on Saturday.

Sims’ touchdown run with 5:21 left in the period was set up by James Madison linebacker Roger Waters’ interception of a Dan Daponde pass at the Northeastern 25-yard line.

James Madison (3-2) also got a 6-yard touchdown run from halfback Leon Taylor with 24 seconds left in the third and a 1-yard scoring run from fullback Joe Sparksman with 2:07 to play.

The top two quarterbacks for Northeastern (1-4) left the game with injuries, although neither appeared to be serious. Garvey McIntosh sprained his knee after being sacked by Richard Bryant late in the first quarter. Daponde sprained his ankle after being tackled by Shannon Vissman early in the fourth.

The Huskies were held to 149 total yards, 111 of which came on the ground.
