ICYMI: Top articles for the week of Sept. 3

In case you missed them, here’s a list of the top five articles that appeared in the Aiken Standard this week.

Prince Edward will be at the Aiken Tennis Club on Sept. 17, according to a list of his official engagements on the royal.uk website.

Plans filed with the City of Aiken in March – now approved, according to Planning Director Ryan Bland – illustrate a large commercial development at 1012 Laurens St. N.W., which lies right down the road from Aiken High School.

Phillip Lee Kinard Jr., 29, is charged with armed robbery, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to jail records.

Howard Daniel Barton, Jr., 18, of the 100 block of Hillman Street, is charged with attempted murder, two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm at a person and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to jail records.

Daniel J. Lewallen was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, according to an email from the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.
