RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) _ Corey Crume ran for two touchdowns and Waylon Chapman passed for two more as Eastern Kentucky beat Kentucky State 27-21 Thursday night.

Kentucky State (1-1) totaled 451 yards against the Colonels (1-0), who finished with 271 total yards, but could not score in the first three quarters.

After pulling to 27-21, Kentucky State was penalized for unsportsmanlike behavior with 1:20 left when a player spit. Eastern took the ball and ran down the clock.

Crume scored both times in the first quarter, on an 8-yard run with 12:01 left and a 4-yard dash at 3:10. Anthony Boggs caught a 15-yard pass from Chapman with 5:25 left in the quarter.

With 10:04 left in the first half, Chapman threw his second scoring pass, a 22-yarder to Alex Bannister.

Alvon Brown ran 5 yards to cut Eastern’s lead to 27-7 with 14:25 left in the game. Four minutes later, Jonathan Harris hit Anthony Arnett from 94 yards to make it 27-14. Jimmy Edmonds tossed an 11-yarder to Greg Graves to finish the scoring.
