Numbers change in city election
SAN BERNARDINO — The numbers have changed for Needles City Council candidates in unofficial results of the Nov. 6 general election.
Preliminary returns released just after polls closed Tuesday showed Edward Paget M.D., Timothy Terral and Barbara Beard leading, in that order, for the top three spots; followed by Louise Evans and Zachery Longacre.
Three council seats are up for election.
Though Paget led comfortably there were 19 votes between Longacre and Terral, only five between Terral and Evans with Beard trailing Terral by a point.
New numbers, updated in the afternoon of Nov. 7 by the county registrar of voters, showed Paget expanding on his lead with 501 votes; Terral and Evans in second and third spots at 375 and 361, respectively.
Longacre was running two points behind Evans with 359; Beard trailed the field with 338.
Running unopposed, mayoral candidate Jeff Williams’ total was 559 in the latest returns.
The registrar plans to release additional new numbers at 4 p.m. today.
The deadline to complete the official canvass and certify the results is Dec. 6.
