Group to focus on safe disposal of unused prescription drugs
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu says a new statewide organization will focus on the safe disposal of unused prescription drugs.
The group is called Rx Abuse Leadership Initiative New Hampshire.
Its partners include more than a dozen local, state, and national organizations committed to finding solutions to end the opioid crisis in New Hampshire.
The group plans to highlight common ways to safely dispose of medications, including take-back locations. The resources will be made available through hospitals, health care providers, pharmacies, first responders, county fairs, libraries, and business and civic organizations.
In 2017, 483 people in New Hampshire lost their lives to a drug-related overdose, primarily opioids.
