Jetliner Landing Gear Collapses on Takeoff; No Injuries
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ A jetliner’s landing gear collapsed as it rolled down a runway toward takeoff with 150 passengers aboard Saturday, but the pilot brought the plane to a stop and no one was injured, officials said.
The Mexicana Airlines Airbus 320 remained on a runaway at Los Angeles International Airport after the incident. The passengers were bused back to a terminal, said Tommy Aina, a duty officer for the Federal Aviation Administration in Los Angeles.
The plane was headed to Mexico City, said Mexicana spokesman Sergio Puche in Los Angeles. He said the airline had no further information.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating, Aina said.
