Pedestrian Hospitalized After Being Hit by Vehicle in Northeast Longmont, Police Say

A pedestrian has been hospitalized after reportedly being hit by a vehicle in northeast Longmont this afternoon.

The crash occurred at around 1 p.m. today on Sunshine Avenue between Celestial Lane and East County Line Road, according to Longmont police Cmdr. Joel Post.

Post said that the male pedestrian, whose name has not been released, was walking north across Sunshine when he was hit by a red sedan being driven by a woman.

The man had serious injuries and was transported to UC Health Longs Peak Hospital in Longmont.

The female driver was not injured.

Police do not believe either the pedestrian or the driver were impaired, and no citations have been issued at this time.

Police said that Sunshine Avenue is closed between East County Line Road and Celestial Lane until at least 5 p.m. while they investigate the scene.
