Cops: Stratford man accused of burglarizing home, stealing car
STRATFORD — A town man was charged in connection with a residential burglary and stolen car earlier this month, police said Tuesday.
Marcus Vereen, of Stratford, was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree larceny and third-degree larceny. He was held on a $30,000 bond and is expected in court on Aug. 31. No updated court records were available for him.
The burglary happened at, and the car was taken from, a residence on Marcroft Street on Aug. 7, police said. Police were able to identify the suspect as Vereen and filed for a warrant to arrest and charge him.
Once they had an active arrest warrant for Vereen, investigators spotted him on Burritt Avenue on Tuesday and tried to arrest him. Police said Vereen tried to run on foot from the cops, but was quickly apprehended.
He was taken to Stratford police headquarters where he was processed and charged.
